So Wednesday nights I stay overnight in Waco at Tori's apartment, which I always enjoy. I believe everyone should ease into marriage like this... 6 nights a week stay with your spouse, 1 night a week veg with your former roommate and watch TV shows your spouse won't (or thinks he won't) appreciate (like Project Runway). I love living with my hubby but I strongly appreciate girl time as well.
Tonight Tori and I got frustrated flipping channels so we put on Grey's Anatomy Season 1 and watched the Party episode. (AKA...Shake Your Groove Thing). I think it's one of the greatest (happy) episodes so far. I love Meredith's quotes in it...
"Remember when you were a kid and your biggest worry was, like, if you'd get a bike for your birthday or if you'd get to eat cookies for breakfast. Being an adult? Totally overrated. I mean seriously, don't be fooled by all the hot shoes and the great sex and the no parents anywhere telling you what to do. Adulthood is responsibility"
"we're adults...When did that happen? And how do we make it stop?"
Amen, Meredith.
I guess you can have the sex and hot shoes and no parents without responsibility. I've seen shows about those people on TV. Usually those people end up in therapy, rehab clinics or jail. The rest of us have to balance the freedom and fun and responsiblity and remember that it's all part of a healthy adult life. But seriously, some days, like when I'm staring at an empty bank account, or when I'd rather go to bed than work, or when I have to make a hard decision that affects not just me but someone I love, I echo Meridith's plea..."How do I make it stop?" Preach it, girl.
